Focusness
Focusness is something I heard watching a football game this season. I cannot remember which, but to my surprise, others must have hard it too. The sheer joy of focusness is spreading like a fire in a lake of fire. I have now seen the focusness phenomenon reach the interwebs at hornsfans.com and espn message boards, as well as Shaggybevo. Yaya I peruse the evil empire sites...so sue me, those kids gots brains.

Happiness New Year

Every year with the Maggie Dog is a good year. I got her in 1998. As I type this she is gnawing on a ham bone left over from the black eyed peas pot. I'm sure after that she will be off to the king size bed for her siesta. She lays with her head on the pillow, the only sound coming are her deep breaths and the soft smacking of her jaw. Simple and comforting, but always an ear for her favorite sounds. The food hitting her bowl, the jingle of the truck keys, or the voice saying... "Maggie, walk, ride, treat."

I learned this year that no matter what, it is never too late. I also found out that despite the absence of alcohol and nicotine in my system, life is still hard. However, it is so much easier without it, especially the sleeping part. I have been sober 5 months yesterday, the awake part is pretty good too.
I feel lucky and grateful to be alive.

Here's the thing, I like cold weather. No, scratch that. I like cool weather. Like 40's. Maybe an occasional dip into the 30's for The Snowing. Yesterday? The high was 17. The wind chill was 0. ZE-RO. Which, in and of itself, is not such a terrible thing, but the elementary schools? Apparently, they don't think that is good playground weather. By the time I picked my kids up from school, they were ricocheting off the walls, delirious with pent-up energy. My daughter was literally bouncing up and down in place of walking. So we get home, and obviously, mayhem ensues.
